Allison This weeks item is berry swirl romney roving. This roving started out as raw white romney wool. It went to Zielingers woolen mill in Frankenmuth, MI. They washed the wool then carded it into roving. We went up to the mill and picked up the finished roving. Allison then took the roving and placed it in a bin and went back into our kitchen and cooked up two pots of dye. The dye is called Gaywool by Louet. One is bluegum and one is raspberry. When they got hot Allison took them to the bin and dumped them all over the roving and after it cooled she rinsed the roving and it turned out really pretty with the swirls of color. When it was all dry Allison and Sheri weighed, tied, and tagged the roving. That is the story of berry swirl roving. Keep coming back and learn more about our items. Berry Swirl is for sale at http://www.bellairsfiberfarm.com/store/p82/Berry_Swirl_Dyed_Romney_Roving.html

Allison ![]() This weeks Item is a gorgeous skein of handspun yarn. This yarn is made by Sheri. She spun two strands of handspun dark brown suri cria top roving and plyed it with one strand of handspun dyed silk together. This combo looks really cool and is a good heavy skein weighing in at 6.8oz and measuring 130 yards. The yarn is really soft and strong and will be good for a thick project. http://www.bellairsfiberfarm.com/store/p193/Chocolate_Brown_Alpaca_Plyed_With_Dyed_Sunset_Silk_Yarn_6.8oz.html Our featured item of this week is this beautiful mint chip cowl and fingerless gloves set. They are made of handdyed green romney yarn plyed with natural black romney yarn. Spun by Sheri. The set was made by Sheri Bellairs. This set is for sale on our finished items section of the website store.
The set cost $113 including shipping. http://www.bellairsfiberfarm.com/store/p107/Gorgeous_Mint_Chip_Cowl_and_Fingerless_Gloves_Set.html ![]() I am going to feature one item for sale every week. It could be anything then I will give you a short history of the making or collecting of this item. This week is a beautiful hat and fingerless gloves set. Sheri Bellairs is the creator of this beautiful set. The pink purple is hand dyed Romney wool plyed with hand dyed silk. Sheri spun the silk. Allison spun the Romney. Then Sheri plyed the two yarns. Sheri thought about it and decided to make the fingerless gloves. She had a big bag of white mill spun alpaca and so she used that for the edging and then used the wool silk for the main part. Then she said I am going to make a set and so she knitted a hat with the white and used the wool silk to edge it. I absolutely love this set. The set is for sale in our Finished Items section. Don't miss out this is the only one available. |
