This weeks item is berry swirl romney roving. This roving started out as raw white romney wool. It went to Zielingers woolen mill in Frankenmuth, MI. They washed the wool then carded it into roving. We went up to the mill and picked up the finished roving. Allison then took the roving and placed it in a bin and went back into our kitchen and cooked up two pots of dye. The dye is called Gaywool by Louet. One is bluegum and one is raspberry. When they got hot Allison took them to the bin and dumped them all over the roving and after it cooled she rinsed the roving and it turned out really pretty with the swirls of color. When it was all dry Allison and Sheri weighed, tied, and tagged the roving. That is the story of berry swirl roving. Keep coming back and learn more about our items.
